Course Overview

This one-day course, delivers essential insights into mental health issues commonly encountered in the workplace, including stress, anxiety, self-harm, eating disorders, and depression. It is designed to improve participants' communication abilities, emphasizing the value of active listening, peer support, and recognizing when professional help is necessary. While this training is instrumental in promoting a mentally healthy workplace environment, it does not certify attendees as Mental Health First Aiders.

Course Structure

The Level 2 Award in Mental Health Awareness consists of 7 hours of instruction completed within a three-week timeframe. Led by experienced trainers, the course requires no additional study outside the allocated hours. It covers a broad range of topics, including:

  • Basic understanding of first aid principles
  • Triage and emergency response
  • Effective communication and care for casualties
  • Conducting a primary survey and resuscitation techniques
  • Positioning for recovery
  • Managing bleeding and shock
  • Treatment for bites, stings, burns, and scalds
  • Dealing with heat exhaustion, hypothermia, and injuries to bones, muscles, and joints

Who Should Attend

This course is open to individuals 16 years and older interested in mental health and those who wish to support colleagues according to relevant health guidelines and laws.

Assessment

Participants will be assessed through a 25-minute multiple-choice exam. To pass, candidates must score at least 10 out of 15. This assessment method ensures that all attendees have grasped the crucial elements of workplace mental health awareness.

Certification

Upon successful completion, attendees will receive a personalized Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace (RQF) certificate, recognizing their achievement and understanding in this vital area.
